Paulding County is located in the northwestern portion of Georgia. Approximately 145,000 people call Paulding County home, of which the county seat is the town of Dallas. The Paulding County Courthouse is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is located in Dallas. Residents enjoy hot, humid summer and mild, cool winters.

A Brief History

In 1832, Paulding County was created from a portion of Cherokee County. A few years later, in 1852, part of Paulding County was annexed to create neighboring Polk County. Over the next two decades, bits and pieces were both taken from and added to the county from Carroll, Cobb, Douglas, and Polk counties. The county derives its name from American Revolution War hero John Paulding, who captured British spy Major John André. André was smuggling secret intel from Benedict Arnold when Paulding apprehended him in 1780.
